After a few lively days in Venice, Italy, we flew to Barcelona for a few weeks rest in the Costa Brava area. Our friend Penny helped guide us to the area that would be best for 2 weeks of relaxation and exploring the small, quaint seaside villages that line the Costa Brava coast.
We chose L’Estartit as our home base and rented an apartment style accommodation that was only one block from the beach. L’Estartit has an incredible 10km long beach with beautiful sand and shallow, warm Mediterranean ocean waters.

The area is rich with history. Centuries ago pirates and corsairs terrorized all the coastal villages and used Medes islands as a base.

Since this area is Catalonia which includes Barcelona, there are many differences from Spain. They have their own language – Catalon – and some different foods and customs. The area we stayed was filled with tourists from France as the border is just north of Costa Brava.

There are not any pictures of Robbie as I became ill during this time but am back on my feet now. We are leaving Barcelona tomorrow on an 8 day cruise. More updates to follow!
