We have almost 100 days on this ship!

We flew from Puerto Vallarta to Long Beach on December 5th to prepare for our voyage to South America.

We spent hours walking along the waterfront in Long Beach.
Attending champagne reception on the ship’s helipad for sail away from California.

Our first port was Cabo San Lucas. We used tender boats to come ashore.

Beautiful sunsets from our balcony onboard.

We enjoyed the beautiful beach by the port, visited La Crucecita and met some wonderful people.
We were spoiled daily by the fabulous staff at the main dining room including Michael and Jalvis from the Phillipines and Jermaice from Guyana.
The next day we arrived in Guatemala and did a 5 hour bus tour into the UNESCO heritage city of Antigua.
Beautiful old buildings along the 2 hour drive to Antigua.
We were fortunate to see active volcanoes as well in Guatemala.

More beautiful fountains in Lima.

We heard many stories of the past political history in Peru.  Often with different variations depending on the guide.  It was interesting to hear about the terrorism and how it was used against the people by cutting their power supplies.  This occurred in recent years as did wars with Spain and Chile.

Walking in Lover’s Park in LIma enjoying the beautiful sculpture.
Vendors along the sidewalk selling all kinds of souvenirs.
With being alpaca farmers in the past we were enthralled with all of the alpaca products.
Nazca lines in the desert as seen from the water. This was in the desert atmosphere in Pisco, Peru.

Nazca lines are a group of geoglyphs made in the soil of the Nazca desert in Southern Peru.  Look at Wikipedia for an interesting history of these lines.

Enjoying a reception in the sky lounge with the officers on our last formal night.
View from our condo balcony in Concon, Chile.

We arrived in Valparaiso, Chile on December 23.  We will be staying at our condo in Concon and exploring this area until moving to Santiago, Chile on January 13.  We fly to Buenos Aires on January 18th and board the ship to sail to Antarctica on January 20th.  We will update you in our next blog about the remainder of our time in Chile!
