Farewell Caribbean, Hello TransAtlantic cruise to Europe

Ken and I spent another 23 days in Curacao and enjoyed our final days in the Caribbean.   We underwent a lot of Covid testing – first to board the American Airlines flight from Curacao to Miami, then in Ft. Lauderdale and because Ken was unwell he underwent testing twice again aboard the ship.  He is improving in health and we are enjoying the journey.  We arrive in the Straits of Gibraltar tomorrow.  You may have seen that we had to bypass the port in Madeira Portugal because of rerouting due to a heart problem with a passenger near the beginning of the cruise.  We are looking forward to seeing how we stand once we get to land.  PS – we don’t miss the bugs or bites from the ABC islands.

Our pool which we enjoyed alone most of the time.
Our Dutch style villa.
The cat family that visited every day for food.  There were 8 of them in total.
Our dear friends Marbega and Chris who were so awesome and took such good care of us!
Colourful stairs in Otrabanda – downtown Willemstaad.
Street art.

Our Curacao walking path along the ocean- no snarling dogs!
Art along the walkway
Mambo beach – man made beach.
Beach sculpture
Chicken love on the beach – at Kokomo
Grote Knip beach
Enjoying the sun ☀️
We will miss the turquoise waters
Queen Emma floating bridge in Willemstaad lit at night.
Entrance to old fort at Ft. Nassau restaurant.
Ft. Lauderdale – lots of windy days there.
Odyssey of the Seas – our transport across the Atlantic.
So happy to be on board!
North Star experience – we are doing this ride shortly!
Moving art outside the main dining hall.
Great entertainment everywhere – he plays in the elevators too!
Amazing indoor sports facilities – have yet to play pickleball!
We spent most of the days on the upper decks in the sun.
Ken enjoying every minute!
Flow rider – neither of us are game to do this or the I fly experience.
Rock climbing wall – we might do this!
Main dining room – 3 levels.
Ship is quite deserted – only 2000 of possible 5000 guests onboard.
Incredible 270% theatre.
70s disco night – most popular!
View from our cabin in the middle of the Atlantic.

We arrive in the Straits of Gibraltar tomorrow and plan to post about our stops in Malaga and Cartagena Spain as well as Pisa/Florence before we arrive in Rome and meet up with Jessica and April!!  More to come!
