Mystical Malta – History and Charm

From Italy we flew to the island country of Malta where we spent 8 wonderful days.  Malta has an interesting history dating back to 5200BC.  Currently there are many influences from Sicily and we discovered people living there from many countries.  The Maltese people are very warm and welcoming.

We stayed in Sliema which has lots of boat activity along the promenade.
View of Valletta across the harbour.
Downtown Valletta streets.
Beautiful architecture in downtown Valletta.
Gorgeous Valletta fountain.
We had lunch at this ancient theatre that is being restored.
Many ancient buildings which are being restored.
Cruise ships of many sizes visit Malta. There are several active harbours on the islands.
We did a boat tour to Gozo and Comino which are part of the islands of Malta.
A winery on Gozo – it has beautiful beaches as well.
The famous Blue Lagoon on Comino.
Ken swimming in the Blue Lagoon. There were lots of jellyfish in here.
Waterfront on the way to Three Cities.
We did a day trip around the harbours to the Three Cities.
Boats lining Sliema promenade for day trips to the islands.
We spent a lot of time at Aqua Luna pool by our hotel. It was over 30 degrees each day.
Enjoying dinner by the water at our favourite restaurant.

We loved our 8 days on Malta and will definitely be back.  Next blog about Kalamata Greece coming soon!
